September is National Preparedness Month, a time to make sure your household is ready for unexpected emergencies. Gas safety belongs on that checklist.
Start by reviewing your appliances: Are they inspected and up to date? Do you know where your main gas shut-off valve is located? Has your family practiced what to do if they smell gas or hear an alarm?
Preparedness also means making sure your safety tools are working. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and check your natural gas alarms to ensure they’re powered and ready. If you don’t have them yet, consider adding alarms near gas appliances and bedrooms for an added layer of protection.
Prepared homes are safer homes. By combining awareness, alarms, and action steps, you give your family the confidence to face emergencies calmly.
Gas Safety Is a Shared Responsibility.
